The Oriental-inspired style of this tea-service uses a bamboo shoot motif on the handles; the form (no. 1480) is derived from architect Alois Hauser’s 1873 design for the Vienna World’s Fair. The decor (no. 2933) is also influenced by interest in Eastern (Indian) culture and is taken from M. A. Racinet’s book L'ornement polychrome, Paris 1872.
